KENNY BORGAS, PH.D.
Dr. Borgas is a bilingual and Spanish-speaking licensed and nationally certified School Psychologist (NCSP). He has extensive experience in providing psychoeducational and behavioral assessments to children and adolescents. Dr. Borgas has over 20 years of experience providing assessment, therapeutic, and consultation services to public schools and their families. Dr. Borgas has provided counseling to children of all ages with greater emphasis given to those age 10 and under. Kenny will see children as young as age 3 for testing and therapy. He has worked with children with issues of Anxiety, Depression, Phobias, Self-Esteem, Anger Management, Peer relations, Motivation, Self-Awareness, Defiance, Lying, and Impulsive behaviors, among others. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been the primary choice of therapy, as well as Social-skills training, Contingency Management, Play Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Projective techniques, Storytelling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Family Therapy.
Dr. Borgas has also worked with and helped identify children with learning disabilities, intellectual delays, ADHD, Autism, Behavior Disorders, Language Impairments, Cognitive-Processing deficits, and giftedness. Dr. Borgas has expertise in providing language proficiency and bilingual assessments as it relates to second language acquisition and academic performance. As a member of multidisciplinary teams, Dr. Borgas has developed interventions designed to address a child’s weaknesses through the implementation of 504 plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). He has written and published “Intelligence Theories and Psychological Assessment: Which Theory Guides Your Interpretation of Intelligence Test Profiles?” in the School Psychologist, APA Division of School Psychology, 1999. Vol. 53,[1]. He has served as Chair of the Bilingual Assessment Committee and developed best assessment practices for Spanish speaking school-aged children for the Lake County School District in Lake County, FL.
Dr. Borgas has a Doctorate in Industrial Organizational Psychology, specializing in research and statistics from Northcentral University. He obtained his advanced graduate training in School Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA where he completed his practicum. Dr. Borgas completed his internship in School Psychology in the Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, NC.
